We want using this site to feel as clear and safe as a first conversation with us. These terms explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms apply to your use of askdrpenny.com, run by Angel Counseling Services, LLC, under the brand name Ask Dr. Penny. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Counseling services themselves are governed by the informed consent and intake documents you sign before your first session. Where those documents and these terms differ, the signed documents apply.

Not for emergencies

This website, its forms, and our email are not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) at any time. For a medical emergency, call 911.

Website content is information only

Our articles, guides, and free resources are for general education. They are not a diagnosis, treatment, or professional advice for your situation. Reading the site or contacting us does not make you a client.

Consults, booking, and appointments

Requests are not confirmed until we confirm them.

After you send a request, you will get an automatic receipt. We confirm your time, and the office address or telehealth link, within one business day.

The 15-minute consult is free.

There is no obligation to book further sessions.

Fees and payment

Fees for full sessions are shared on your consult call and confirmed in writing before your first session. Dr. Penny is private pay only, in and out of network, and provides the necessary receipts for reimbursement. Payment is due 24 hours before your session to confirm your attendance.

Rescheduling and cancelling

Please give at least 24 hours’ notice, using the link in your confirmation or reminder email or by calling (205) 946-4060. Cancelling with less than 24 hours’ notice carries a $25 cancellation fee.

Family and couples sessions: you can book on behalf of others, but everyone attending will be asked to give their own consent at intake.

Video sessions

Every service is available by secure telehealth (video). Dr. Penny is commissioned to counsel across the United States and beyond under the umbrella of The Anglican Church of North America. To keep sessions safe and effective:

  • Join from a private place where you will not be overheard.
  • Use a reliable internet connection. If the connection drops, Dr. Penny will try to reach you by phone.
  • Tell us where you are at the start of each session, especially if you are travelling.
  • Do not record sessions without everyone’s written agreement.

Using the site responsibly

Please do not misuse the site. That includes sending false information, spam, or harmful code, trying to access parts of the site you are not meant to, or using it to harass anyone.
